wayloncash April 7th, 2012, 05:45 PM Wondering if anyone has tried the evor guitar kit? If there were any issues with it?
They offer a few more options(like maple fretboard) and are cheaper. I called the company and as advertised, I supposedly talked to the owner Charlie. If you haven't heard of them check them out; tell me what you think?

Elibrown09 April 7th, 2012, 11:14 PM Never tried but they look nice, especially for the price. Let me know how it works out if you buy one.
PlutoLex April 7th, 2012, 11:27 PM I don't know this, but I would bet that all of these kits come out of one or a few factories in China. If you find someone who you can work with in case of a problem, that's probably the one go go with. I've put together a two kits. The first one needed a total refret and a bit of shaping on the back of the neck (it was very uneven). The other one needed very little work.
TeleTim911 April 7th, 2012, 11:41 PM I clicked over, looked at the Deluxe Tele Kit and it comes with 3-ply white pickups.
wayloncash April 8th, 2012, 12:55 AM If you notice when you upgrade, change necks, and such the price does not increase drastically. This makes me very weary, I cant find any reviews, customer or by any other websites. They have the kit iwnt at an unbelievable price.

Haha...just saw that myself. Good prices and a great way for someone to get their hands into putting a guitar together for the first time.

hey for $99 what have you got to lose
the neck is $69 and the body is $44 so the rest of the parts are -$14:?:
wayloncash April 8th, 2012, 06:34 PM Noone in this forum has purchased a evor guitar kit. Man.
5angelo5 April 14th, 2012, 04:15 PM Wayloncash Im going to be getting an Evor kit in the next couple of months so I will let you know what they are like. I'll be getting an explorer by the way and I'll post pics etc and explain of any issues and so on.
JonnyPM April 14th, 2012, 06:24 PM I think these are the same exact kits others are selling, like BYO-Guitar. Some of the pictures look a lot a like and the pieces look identical. I've built one of theirs and although it is now one of my favorite guitars, it took quite a bit of work to get there. 99% of the holes for attaching anything had to be plugged and redrilled - not an exaggeration. I knew this going in after reading reviews, so I wasn't upset by it, I just looked at it as another step. The p/u's were crap so I changed the bridge p/u out immediately. The locking nut allen head bolts stripped immediately and it had to be changed, and the frets needed quite a bit of work. But like I said, after all that it's a great playing and sounding guitar IMHO. Basically the hardware is crap, but the body is a great starting point for a build. Here's a pic for heck of it:

HTH,

Did the neck come with a maple fretboard.? You had to level the frets. How much did it cost
JonnyPM April 14th, 2012, 08:43 PM Yep, the maple came with the kit. It was $180.

EVOR May 1st, 2012, 09:12 PM Waylon,
Thanks for the post. It's great to know people are talking about EVOR guitar kits.
I can not speak for Saga Kits because I have never seen one of their products. I can only speak for what I offer. My kits come from one of the most respected manufactures in China. We work closely with the factory to insure the best product for the money anywhere. I have built a number of kits and have had a blast doing it.
A selection of built guitar kits are available at:

swellsmd May 1st, 2012, 10:29 PM In my experience now that I have built a Saga and gigged with it for a couple of months I'm not sure it was worth the cheaper price. I have basically replaced all the hardware using Stew Mac parts, it does sound nice but these little issues pop up. Sat night my G string just would not stay in tune song to song. I brought it home and went through the setup again. Couldn't really find anything wrong but it's little stuff all the time. But I gig a lot. If you are building it for home use maybe it's not an issue. I am thinking of doing another build and I will opt for the more expensive parts upfront this time around.
EVOR May 2nd, 2012, 09:11 AM Good call swellsmd. I hope the first thing you did was changed the nut from plastic to a graphite or bone. The next upgrade sounds like tuning pegs not holding the string in tune. You must be a blues player..
JonnyPM May 16th, 2012, 07:22 PM Speaking of kit parts. I just noticed after having it for two years that on the tremolo, instead of saying "Licensed under Floyd Rose" it says "Licensed under Floyd Rosd"
Coincidence or ?
Jonny
tt8 January 28th, 2013, 07:04 AM What I can notice in the pictures of the Evor bodies is that the ferrule holes don't line up.
