Has anybody ever heard of this awesome app for mac and mac products? If you're familiar with "The Real Book" and other associated fake books and such, this app is fantastic for practicing songs and learning chord charts or just for having something to jam along to.
you can download (for free) chord charts from over 1200 jazz standards and other various creations of people on the ireal b forums. or you can create your own. you can edit and adjust the key, tempo and backing track for each chart you're looking at.
give it a look. Its a $20 download, but i bought it and found it totally worth it.
Cheers

HI,
just been checking this out...it gets great reviews!
But would you say it's most suited to jazz players?
I'm unsure weather to buy as although I use some jazzy chords, I am not a 'jazz' man
What is your opinion?

What is your opinion?I think its definitely geared more towards jazz players, but its great for creating chord progressions to just jam over top of.
Its also great for creating chord charts for songs of all kinds for a quick reference. You can print them off and just use them for reference.
The thing i've always wanted to be able to have (as a guitar player of any genre) was the ability to create jam tracks over top of any type of chord progression in any key at any tempo. This app can do that, which is kinda cool.
The forum that you can access also has lots of chord charts for popular music (rock, pop, country etc.) that other people have made on their own which you can access and download for free as well.
Its your call i guess. I can see where $20 might seem pricey for somebody who's not really a jazz player. But you never know, you might find its applications totally useful and worth it.
Best of Luck!

Wow... Just got this app for my ipad and I'm just blown away! Never was easy putting my guitar down before this, even more difficult now. Jammed with it before and after two gigs yesterday. I definitely have to buy the Jazz Styles Pack and maybe the Pop Styles Pack.
