Dimarizo Twang King Tele bridgeMASONish April 5th, 2012, 05:40 PM Any chicken pickers here have any comments or are using one of these in the bridge of your Tele? Lee Harvey April 5th, 2012, 06:03 PM I do. This is in my opinion the best tele bridge pickup. And to boot it is a reasonably priced pickup. It is very dynamic, adjustment makes a tremendous difference with this pickup. It took me sometime time to find the spot for me, but when I did it was exactly what I was looking for. It will not be going anywhere. This has to be one of the best kept secrets on the market. Zipper April 5th, 2012, 06:31 PM I agree with Lee Harvey. The Twang King certainly lives up to its name. IT has "twang" to spare. Just play around with the distance from the strings and you will find the sweet spot. e-merlin April 5th, 2012, 06:36 PM It's a great pickup. I always say, you have to spend twice as much to get a better pickup, and it may not be that much better. rokdog49 April 10th, 2012, 10:38 AM The 615 is the Twang King with no noise...and just a smidgeon hotter! blowtorch April 10th, 2012, 10:47 AM I find it a little hot. I'd posted this earlier, and someone suggested that maybe it's the heigth adjustment, this is probably so. One of these days I should fiddle with it some more, it's on my "number three" tele so I don't really play it that much. Lee Harvey April 10th, 2012, 10:52 AM My twang king bridge reads 6.2K. The site says 6.5K. Durango Twango April 10th, 2012, 10:15 PM Another fan of the 615 - really just a great bridge pickup in my guitar, noiseless or otherwise. Matched up with an Area neck pickup and a 4-way switch, it's a real gig monster. ludashoeless April 10th, 2012, 10:25 PM i have the twang kings, i like them. but i've never tried other tele pups TequilaCaster April 10th, 2012, 11:35 PM I have a Twang King set in a 2001 MIM Standard Tele. It's a sunburst model, with maple veneer top and back sides, over a poplar or alder core. Said wood construction gives this Tele a dark tone, which helps moderate the sharpness of the Twang King's bridge attack. I had the TKs in another MIM standard, and found the bridge to be too bright and kind of thin sounding. But they seem to be perfect for the darker/muddier wood tele. I also use .011 gauge string set with it to add some more beef. So to recap... TKs (especially the bridge) work better with less resonant Teles, IMHO. YMMV. Oh yeah.... I love the TKs. Not as much as the Dimarzio Pre-B1, but a smidgen more than the Fender OVs. Brandon mac April 11th, 2012, 11:02 AM i have a TK bridge in my number two tele, and a duncan five two in my number one. i love them both!!!! |
