Maybe I'm slow to catch on, but I just discovered this record. Dion of The Belmonts Doo-Wop fame singing the Blues? Yep, and he's done two other ones before that. Haven't heard those yet, but this one's quite good.

Try this, he recorded classic blues in the mid '60s.

I haven't heard a great quantity of Dion Dimucci's stuff, but what I have heard I've liked a lot. Great feel, vocal technique and interpretation. In particular, though hardly blues, his definitive version of Joni Mitchell's "Clouds" ("Both Sides Now"), which seems shamefully ignored by broadcasters.

Dang, I was hoping this was about Dion Payton, whose 43rd Street Blues Band backed Jr. Wells in the 80s. A tremendous guitar player, too.

Didn't know that. I'm just starting to get into this guy. He's all over the map musically and seems to do it all really well. There's even a hard rock live record "Live In New York" that sounds great based on the Amazon clips. Just ordered that along with the three most recent blues records, "Deja Nu", "Yo Frankie" and "Dream on Fire/Streehearts".

He was always clever.

Some say he invented punk rock!

Yeah I heard that too. I don't know how true it is though.

Yep, ordered that one, "Tank Full of Blues", and "Son of Skip James". I need to find that first one you posted. Didn't see it on Amazon.

Yeah I heard that too. I don't know how true it is though.

I think was the "loser" sentiment of Runaround Sue, Born to Cry and other songs.

If you can find his interview archived on NPR, listen to it.

Listen at about 37 seconds, sounds like it should be an outtake

I listened, but I don't understand. Is there a missed note or something?
