artdecade April 5th, 2012, 08:55 AM ... Jim's work defined rock and roll. I know its not exactly a pedal related post, but I think it is big enough news to mention.
God bless. Thanks for making the world a little louder!
Enaitz April 5th, 2012, 10:48 AM Requiescat in pacem.
Chiogtr4x April 5th, 2012, 12:12 PM Actually this is "Stombox" related as many of us that play Fenders and other amps, are always looking for "Marshall in a Box" OD's!
RIP Jim Marshall, thanks for creating a great rock legacy
gitlvr April 5th, 2012, 12:54 PM This is a sad day. I never met the man, but his amps left an indelible mark on my life. Best wishes to his family and friends.
mrmorrison April 5th, 2012, 12:55 PM RIP to a legend in our world.
dog fart April 5th, 2012, 01:42 PM
I really don't know what to say. Rest in peace old man, I'll see you soon enough.
Hiker April 5th, 2012, 01:54 PM R.I.P. Jim!
middy April 5th, 2012, 01:59 PM So long and thanks for all the mids!
RIP, Mr. Marshall.
rcole_sooner April 5th, 2012, 02:03 PM I guess I should play my Marshall at 1/2 volume today. Naw, he would not have wanted that.
R.I.P. Jim.
gtrguru April 5th, 2012, 02:19 PM Lost another good one today for sure.
RaistMagus April 6th, 2012, 05:15 AM I guess I should play my Marshall at 1/2 volume today. Naw, he would not have wanted that.
R.I.P. Jim.
You should play it on eleven
telepath April 6th, 2012, 05:45 AM A true pioneer, and the helmsman of a product/phenomenon that really, really contributed in shaping the history and the concept of what we have come to know as 'Rock'
Respect and RIP.
Not meaning this to sound disrespectful, but part of me would love to imagine that Jim planned his own commemorative stone to be made from several large pieces of black onyx (the lower one angled), and with his name scripted simply in white.
filmix2 April 6th, 2012, 09:07 AM I was working in the Marshall booth at a winter NAMM show about 8 years ago.
Jim was there signing autographs one afternoon.
That line of people to get autographs ran down the entire length of the floor at Anaheim Convention Center.
RIP Jim and no worries about your name living on.
Zagnut April 6th, 2012, 01:53 PM Except for a few Hiwatts here and there virtually every rock song I hold near and dear was due in part to Jim Marshall. Thank you Mr. Marshall and may you rest in peace if you so desire, but I have a feeling you might like the voices of angels through something with Mullards, Drake, and Celestions in it.
