Mojotone Kits

I bought a kit from Mojotone on the 2nd of Feb and because it was sent via a friend I only got it last week. So when I was checking the parts I discovered there was no PT. Thinking that they left it out by mistake I sent an email and was told that it was on backorder!! There are a couple more things on backorder which you could pop down to any electrical business and buy. This is nuts, if they knew they were not avail why not let people know. Imagine if I had a customer waiting for this amp, sometimes the transformer take 3 months I was told and you can't have the option of no transformers in the kit. I just shake my head....so if your thinking of a kit from them...be prepared

I ordered transformers, Heyboer, from Weber. Same story over there as I am still waiting. Been 2 months now. My amp project has been at a stand still for a long time. It's pretty frustrating.

yikes, that stinks.

I ordered a set of transformers a few weeks from them for a 5F1 build. Come to think of it i did check whether they were in stock or not before ordering but they shipped them right out. This weekend should be my build time. I've got everything but my speaker and cab gosh-dang-it. (they should come next week though) ;)

Terrible customer service for sure.
If I felt like building cabinets, I wouldn't have to be waiting that much. I source everything myself, but the cabinet is always a pain.
Taking someones money, then telling them they have to wait to get the product is the most callous of policies and they should be called out for such terrible customer service.

Don't get me wrong, I've had great experiences with Mojo. I ordered my cabinet (it was from them too but i didn't say that in the original post) well after the transformers and other parts. the intent of that part of my comment was around my own out-of-order ordering.

Mojo was totally up front with the lead times for the cabinet which i thought were reasonable so i went ahead with the order. They met those dates and didn't bill me until the order shipped (which was today).

I just wanted to chime in about the transformers i ordered from them a few weeks ago. they had them in stock (although i did check to make sure) and shipped them right out. Big mojo fan here. :D

I odrered Heyboer trannies from Weber twice last year and it took awhile.
It does say on their web page or it did that they ordered from Heyboer like once a week or so and not stocked.

The way I took it, if you ordered from them on Thursday for example and they made the order on Wednesday your transformers wouldn't be ordered till the following week.
Then when they were completed they had to be shipped back to Weber.
The trannies had to be checked it by them before being processed and shipped to you.

On the third week in each case I sent an email to Weber and recieved a reply promptly letting me know I would have my order within the next week.
Both my orders took about a month. They are all built to order and are worth waiting for imo.

I suppose in your case, Mojo should have sent you and email or something to let you know these items were on back order before processing your order to give you an option to still go through with it.

I'd easily wait 3 weeks, it's the same deal with Edcor, they are made to order and a first rate product. But 3 months!!!! give me a break.

I ordered a PR kit from Marsh (most parts are from Mojo) and they said the same thing. They had the MMOT and everything else ready to go but no parts from mojo. Luckily, it only took about 3 weeks for me to get mine. Good service from Marsh... they explained the wait time and offered a refund if I needed it.

that stinks Telenut...I've had an order in with the tube depot for over a month now thats being held by Customs because there is an "excessive" amount of electronic parts (mogmai guitar cable and amphenol plugs and a few other things, but no big deal) ...don't get it but I know how you feel having to wait...

I've experienced delayed deliveries from some of those suppliers.

IME, I'll tell you two distributors who have given me consistently fast shipping on transformers.

www.tubesandmore.com three days

www.triodeelectronics.com three days

Here's another supplier recommended by a TDPRI member.

www.musicalpowersupplies.com

I rec'd a shipment of transformers from them in three days.

No Heyboer, but triode and aes (tubesandmore) offer good quality American-made products.

Some of the "Fender Replacement" Transformers from AES are the same "Magnetic Components" (Chicago) item sold by triode.

The wait on the parts from 3rd party vendors is likely your supplier waiting to bundle orders to get a volume price break. If the price break is at 10 pieces, they set a time limit and if they get 10 orders before that time they make the order early. If they don't get the other nine orders, they place the small order X number of weeks after they received the first order. In the case of transformers, it is not likely the winder that is holding it up for weeks. Getting the price break can be a big part of any profit a company makes, and if you like having little suppliers competing with each other to give us lots of choices and actually very low prices, then profit is not a bad word.

Celeste, thanks for the insight. I never thought of Weber waiting to make a point break. That makes sense and there is a very good chance that is why so far I've been waiting 2 months. Know I know for next time.

Well I finally fired up the amp with the long awaited PT installed, however I'm getting nearly 390V on the rectifier. My mains is 10V higher than normal, I'm used to that, and I've made allowances before, the spec sheet supplied has the secondaries at 354V. So what would you do? Ask if the PT is out of tolerance? .....it's not.....Sell it off and get a PT with 330-0-330 secondaries??

Better than the 425V i was getting on mine Telenut, and for the record over 7 weeks now and Still waiting on my order from thetubedepot, they said that if I wasn't happy then order from Canada, not really the answer I was hoping to hear from their service rep..
