Replacement for Boss RC-2 Looper

I have a Boss RC-2 Looper pedal that sounds pretty muddy when I start to layer loops (not more than 2 or 3). I guess it's a fidelity issue. I'm looking to maybe get a replacement that is more amenable to some cleaner sounding layering.

How does the Digitech JamMan, or the new RC-3 compare?

The Boomerang looks awesome, but I'm afraid it's a little out of my price range, though.

How does the RC-3 compare to the RC-2 or the Digitech JamMan?

I really enjoy playing through my Akai Headrush II. Because it doesn't have to largest amount of memory, I can't use it to play a whole verse of rhythm guitar and then layer over the top. But, because of this, it forces me to think about what songs to use it on and it also acts as a good way to build the loops as part of the performance.

There may be better loopers out there but I like this one just fine and, into the bargain, it's a really good delay pedal as well.

The overdub feature on the RC-2 got muddy pretty fast compared to the looping function on my TC Electronic Flashback Delay. I want to keep separate delay and looper pedals, though. I ended up getting a Digitech JamMan Stereo.

Bumping.

I'm in the same situation. Right now I have a Boss RC-2 that I've never been really thrilled with - part of the issue is definitely me but I'm thinking that maybe there's a better alternative. I've looked at the Boomerang III but my needs don't justify the cost. I've been seriously considering the JamMan Stereo but haven't pulled the trigger.

I am most interested in your thoughts and experience going from the RC-2 to The JM-S. (ease of use/sound/etc...)

Just got the JamMan Stereo yesterday, and I am liking it so far. I got to play with it for about 20-30 min. last night, and I was having a blast. Sound quality seems better than the RC-2, and it's pretty easy to use. I was mainly doing simple layering, and I tried out the reverse.

Thanks. My biggest problem with the RC-2 is - of course - timing the loop (which I know is my problem, not the units). However, I also want to play to the drum guide, not play and have the guide adjust to me. I can do this with the Boss unit but I find the whole process cumbersome. I'll mess with the unit for 40 minutes, produce only an "okay" loop and then set the unit aside for another six months. I'm hoping the JamMan Stereo is easier to work. I have the unit in an on-line retailer's Cart, just haven't pushed the Order button yet.
