Building a guitar

Hi guys!

Me and my dad had the idea of building a guitar from parts, which after thinking about it more I thought it could be a good idea, but I would like some advice about all of this first please.

Anyhow, here are the specifications I thought of.

Tele/Strat hybrid body with modern Telecaster hardware
Stratocaster style guitar neck with an ebony fretboard
Grover tuners
DiMarzio Super Distortion T bridge pickup
DiMarzio Protrack neck pickup
Fender Telecaster 3 way pickup
DiMarzio push/pull volume pot
Shadow killpot fitted in as a tone pot

Well that's the idea I got! Now I have a few questions.

I've found a body on Ebay made of red alder, has anybody ordered this product and were you pleased? (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stratocaster-tennessee-strat-Hybrid-Replacement-Alder-Body-/320863657493?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4ab4f6de15#ht_1091wt_1396)

The same goes for the guitar neck, I've found one on Axesrus and I'd just like to know if anybody who was ordered from there were pleased with it (http://www.axesrus.com/axenecks.htm#StratNecks)

Can somebody help me with the wiring diagrams? I'm assuming I could use a diagram on the DiMarzio website for a Telecaster that has two humbuckers to be coil tapped seeing as the pickups are labelled as humbuckers on the website, but I would just like to check if this is correct.

Any other advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Read as many build threads on here as you can. Get your self a note book and as you find what you would like to do write it down. Build your ax in the book first by assembling all the info you need and you will have a valuable resource all through your build. As a plus if you spend the time to research and learn you will attain far greater knowledge then just asking questions. I not saying don't ask questions do ask what you get confused about but I still maintain that you will learn so much more through self study. Good luck on your first build and don't forget to post pictures you know we like pictures. Have fun.

Thanks for the advice Dutch! I have been reading about what I could find on the forums, but I'm still wondering if a 2 humbucker coil tap wiring diagram would be correct for those pickups, just want to check!

I'll remember to post pictures of the guitar in stages
