paulfury April 4th, 2012, 08:56 AM Hi all,
I'm in the midst of some epic rebuilding/pedal DIYing and am reevaluating my compressor bit - was gonna DIY an Orange Squeezer and Ross/DynaComp clone into one box (ala Analogman Bicomprossor) for two different flavours with a smallish footprint. Anybody here got any good suggesstions/thoughts about anything else I should consider? Like maybe sticking the BYOC Opticomp in there as well? ;-p
Anybody stacking comps/using more than one on their gigging board?
Thoughts?
Cheers!

eddie knuckles April 4th, 2012, 10:03 AM I have a Diamond (optical) Compressor on all the time, and a Boss CS-2 sporadically for slide or funk lines.
Jagg76 April 5th, 2012, 12:39 PM Nope, just one Diamond compressor.

I think the OP is way more interested in "yes" replies.
Steamboat April 6th, 2012, 07:49 AM I run two. A Rothwell Lovesqueeze, more transparent, and an MXR Custom Comp for a more "vintage" sound. The Lovesqueeze is set for a lower more subtle compression and the Mxr higher. Sometimes both together for a more extreme squish for clean slide, but usually only one will be on. Ocasionally I'll run them either side of an od for different effects.
Paul in Colorado April 6th, 2012, 12:53 PM I've been thinking about trying it. I have one OD that loves a little compression, so it would be nice to have them together in a loop and then have another comp to use and adjust for things like a RIC 12 string or slide guitar.
I once used a Boss CS-2 and a Dyna-Comp together with my RIC 12 string at the suggestion of Roger McGuinn to get close to the sound of the built in compressor of his signature 12 string. It seemed like overkill to me and I can't say I've ever bonded with any Boss compressors. Others may have better luck.
gitold April 6th, 2012, 06:52 PM I have a Carl Martin before my dirt and a HBE retro after my dirt. Works for me. The CM is very transparent and clean, the HBE is squishy and retro.
telelogic April 8th, 2012, 02:13 PM Yup! Anologman bi comp and aphex punch factory. The bi comp has a ros and an Orange squash while the aphex does the transparent optical job.
guit30 April 9th, 2012, 11:38 PM Keith Urban has 3, Demeter Compulator, Wampler Ego Compressor, and the Analogman Orange Juicer.
modgun April 10th, 2012, 12:21 AM I run two Dynacomps on my board.
paulfury April 10th, 2012, 06:15 AM Thanks for the feedback everyone. Telelogic, if it's ok, could you post a bit more about your rig and the sort of stuff you play?
Cheers!

telelogic April 11th, 2012, 06:03 AM Sure! I have a lot of guitars, strats, Tele's, a few humbucker equipt guitars and some speciality things for metal, jazz, surf and slide.
Amps, peavey classic 30 with jj valves and v30 speaker, blackface fender champ, Marshalls various, Orange tiny terror, Gibson 1952 br9 and a big touring rack with a bradshaw switching system.
Pedal board, from guitar it goes,
Peterson strobostomp, mxr 6 band eq, Klon buffer, analogman bi-comp, aphex punch factory, budda wah, toadworks Leo, Carl Martin ac-tone, Suhr riot, neo instruments ventilator, eh chorus, lovepedal babyface tremolo, mxr carbon copy delay, tc flashback delay, tc hall of fame reverb.
I'm a producer, so the pedalboard gets used for a wide range of styles and can sound dramaticly different with each player that plugs into it. But always has a real feel of quality to it.
For my own use, I'm using it with a Tele and the classic 30 at the moment to play a lot of country and classic rock.
On the subject of the compressor, I have one or more of mine on at all times. They make the guitar feel better and sound better. The bi-comp Ross side is like a high quality version of a dynacomp and the OS side gives you the Dan Armstrong Orange squeeze
telelogic April 11th, 2012, 06:10 AM The Aphex is totally transparent and does a great job. You really can't hear what it's doing for your tone until you turn it off. For the most part though, I like my comp's to have an real sonic footprint, so the Analogman is dream for me and I can't recommend it highly enough.
