ISO: A/E with Wide (1 3/4") Neck

Anyone aware of any acoustic-electrics with 1.75-inch width neck at the nut (and with a pickguard)?

Preferably less than $1,000 or not much more than a grand.

I'll assume the Seagull family of guitars does. But their headstocks are so thin and ugly to me. Sorry.

Thanks.

Larrivée's standard nut width is 1.75". You'd need a great deal to get even their 3 series for less than a grand, but used would be no problem.

BREEDLOVE ATLAS SERIES STUDIO D25/SMe $899.00 Mahogany back, laminated sides.

1 3/4" nut width. There are other body styles and prices for the imports which support 1 3/4" nut widths.

I'm looking at a used Martin on CL right now that fits your description:

It's the OMCX1KE; laminated back and sides (not formica, formica is formica) but Martin puts wood where it's needed and they are known to play and sound great. Anyway, you get yer 1.75" nut and Martin headstock.

No, 'fraid not.

Nut width is "normal" 1 11/16 inch, 43 mm:

Though, otherwise, that is a freakin' handsome guitar.

Guild GAD30PCE...Grand Auditorium size, not small...look for NOS or used, as it has been discontinued this year...1 3/4" neck, not unlike a Fender 60's C, Grover Sta-Tites (the newer good ones), bone nut and saddle, Fishman under-saddle electronics (some have volume/tone inside sound hole, some don't). Big sounding guitar, real loud acoustically, Sitka/Padauk.

Taylor DN3 is a dread with 1.75" nut; but no pickup - which might be an advantage as you can take care of that aspect your way. However, new, it's at the top of your price range already - maybe you can find them on special or used.

Yamaha LL series. The LL16X has very sophisticated electronics and is solid wood.

Ahh... I always drool over their L series, which is 1 3/4". I'm not a dreadnaught kinda guy.

Actually, I've been daydreaming about the combination of a wide neck, a cutaway and a small body, and someone recommended a Recording King model (googles...)

RP1-626-C and RP2-626-C (http://www.recordingking.com/guitars_rp1626c.html). These are far from dreads, with 0 and 00 bodies, respectively, but the cutaway to compensate for a 12 fret neck is a pretty cool compromise. 1 3/4" neck with a soft V, I think, and a 25.4" scale.

You might want to consider looking for a guitar without a pickup and then adding a K&K Pure Western Mini pickup. The pickup itself runs about $90. Installation might be another $100 if you can't do it yourself.

And speaking of Martin. They have a new "Performers" series out now that has a neck that is almost 1.75".

It's on my list to consider.

Takamine's Tradesman series--the ones with the koa scripted "T" on the headstock--features several models with wonderful wide necks, and excellent electronics. The Nashville and Bluegrass lines are terrific dreadnoughts that sell new in the $1500-2000 range, but come around used from time to time in the price range you're talking about.

I bought my EF340S BG used, and it had come from a "seconds outlet", stamped "USED" on the back of the headstock. I paid $800. I've never been sorry.
