I was lucky enough to pick up a Joe Barden neck pickup for my Telecaster when they were still available, (affordable). My problem is every pickup I've tried for the bridge just dosen't cut it. But It's not like I've tried a lot. I've tried the SD "Quarter Pounder", the GFS "Lil' (Hot) Puncher" and the standard Telecaster as well as the vintage staggered out of my Muddy Waters Tele. I'm not really looking for the Tele Twang, more of Robben Ford type of sound. Any suggestions??

I'm sure you'll receive many suggestions! Here's mine - a DiMarzio Fast Track T. It's still Tele-ish, and has a great deal of balance to it.

FWIW: I've never played a guitar w/ Bardens but I remember a while back I heard a clip from a TDP'r named Baard and he used a Tele w/ a Barden neck pup and a Bill Lawrence L280T at the bridge. He really sounded fantastic with this set up.
here is the thread although the sound clip isn't available:

Hope this helps.

I've used Barden neck pups with Barden bridge, but also have tried them with Duncan Broadcaster, and Antiquity bridge pups, where they sounded great. IMO, the Barden neck will work with almost any standard vintage style bridge pickup, although you may have to raise up the bridge pup, and maybe lower the Barden neck pup to get a good balance. Not a problem for me, as I usually keep the Bardens lower anyway. Haven't tried them with real hot bridge pups, but can't see why it wouldn't work, if that is the sound you are looking for.
