Haven't posted in about a million years, but I got a new CV strat today, and I am very happy with it. I must say, I forgot how much I like the strat sound.

Happy NGD to me!

Congrats man!! Nothing like a new piece of gear to inspire you to play. Now, plug in, crank up that amp, and play til the cops get there. If your lucky, they'll bring wings and beer and arrest the neighbor that called em.

I've been jammin some CCR on my Highway 1 strat I just acquired, fell free to jump in anytime.

Happy New Guitar! My best buddy has a CV60s Strat and reckons it's superior in every respect to his American Standard. Certainly seems fine to me on a brief acquaintance, and I have lots of both Strats and Teles of my own. Enjoy!

Thanks, guys. I am kind of a jazz guy, but I play in a 9 piece Motown/soul/funk band, and this guitar should help me out on the five hour jobs. Seems a bit lighter than strats I have owned, and of course all those sexy curves make it plenty comfy. Also - I have enjoyed playing all 3 of the country licks I know on it today.

Cool!! I played tenor sax in a jazz/big band ensemble in high school in the 70's. If you ever see the movie "Jaws 2" thats me playing sax when the camera pans over the openning scene of the the Amityville center when the high school band is playing (I had to lean back when the camera swung overhead), and me (smaller guy playing tenor sax) in the dance band scene shot at night. Took us a week to shoot 2 minutes of film so don't be impressed when a film costs 50 mil. to shoot. LOTS of wasted time waiting for the lighting to be right. Lots of sitting around and waiting.

BTW Can't see me in the first scene in the T.V. version. Guess that was part of the edit for time.

What color did you get? Pictures?? I'm thinking of getting one some day before long.

Here is a stock picture.

Not sure, but I think this is the only color for the 60's CV. I do like it more than an American Std. I had a couple of years ago.

That is a beautiful guitar, beautiful color. How is the neck?... Slim, med., fat?, ... frets, etc.?? Thank you for those pictures... I'm just going to go out and try a few. Is the car color still available??

The neck is medium at most - it's not an Ibanez toothpick. The neck on my 2004 Powerhouse Strat is quite a bit thicker. The frets are medium-jumbos. I couldn't tell you about pickups. I bought it slightly used with GFS '60s Greybottoms in it. The guy sent the originals, but I haven't changed out the GFS pickups in the year and a half I've owned the guitar. I did replace the bridge with a Fender Mexican bridge because the knife edges on the original were already wearing a year or less into its life and tuning stability wasn't what I wanted it to be. The bridge was decked when I bought it. I always set them up to float and I use the bar a lot.

I enjoyed this little optimistic tidbit in my boring work day.

Probably my next guitar... like them more than the 50's (soundwise)... this cv 60 strat more than held its own.... I have tried a few cv teles over the years... they didnt seem to hold up to my mims (more toyish)..... the strat was a much different story... liked the sound better than an American standard... or the mim today.

Don't mean to raid your post but does anyone hear know if a MIM strat neck will fit a classic vibe 60s body?
