Where do you keep your guitars? I want to keep mine on a stand but that cats get at them and the fur gets stuck to the pick guard.

I find if I kick the cat rather than whacking it with the guitar I don't get fur stuck to the pickguard so much

On a serious note the only way I've found is to keep the cats out of the room with anything in it I don't want them near is to close the door. They just KNOW and are drawn to what you do not want them to inspect otherwise. I've had guitars sprayed and speaker cab cloth fronts decimated in my time. Love the little sods though I do closed/locked doors is the only thing that works for me.

Squirt it with a water gun any time it gets close to the guitar. It should get the message soon enough. If not, get the real gun :)

I've got an air-zooka. It shoots a puff of air and scares the bajeezus out of my cats. It's actually pretty cool. You can hear the puffball of air hit the wall or kids and loved ones. That way yer not squirtin water at yer geetars. Got it at a Spencer's.

I keep them in cases.......in my music room with the doors shut to the room.

We have a very happy 90 pound dog and another happy 9 pound dog.

Why in cases in a special room?

My 11 year old son will sometimes open the doors and leave one open. I have three Hercules guitar stands in there for when I'm recording or playing with friends. I won't risk a dog knocking one over.

It's very dry in winter here so the acoustics have to be in cases with humidifiers 5 months of the year anyway.

I sometimes leave an Epi P90 guitar on a stand or an older Big Baby Taylor on a stand but I won't leave anything nicer on a stand in our house with dogs.

I love the dogs by the way. If they knocked a guitar over it would be my fault.

Guitars????

My animals have never taken much notice of my guitars... except when I'm playing. Then they run out of the room.

Our cat is 18 years old, she learnt the do’s and don’ts.
Here’s a photo from when I put her in front of my guitar. You can tell from her expression she’s cautious, she usually doesn’t come so close.

My cat ignores my instruments unless I'm changing strings. Then she wants to help. I usually wait until she's asleep and then go downstairs with the door closed to do that. I keep my Esquire clone in a gig bag on a guitar stand in the living room all the time so I can pull it out to play. She's never bothered it.

Baby gate for my two Terriers. Cats would be more difficult I'm sure. Probably makes for interesting furballs. Missing any picks?

Yeah, with a50 watt Crate V50, I can't play at bedroom volume, it's " send the poodle running into the bedroom" volume. I think I need a smaller amp.

The same with me, except I don't have any pets, so substitute "My animals" with "People"

I keep mine in cases and hanging. Two dogs and a cat, but my clumsiness concerns me more than theirs.

My dog and cat could care less about my guitar/gear. Cat's only interested when I'm changing strings. The dog? He likes the "what the f are you doin?" look.

Same here... one of my cat's can be downstairs, and can hear me changing strings upstairs in the bedroom with the door closed. Just to be safe, all my guitar stands are Hercules with locking yokes. And I keep the door closed all day while I'm at work to keep the animals out.

I used to keep mine on stands that I'd push close to the wall so my dogs wouldn't run into them. That worked great until the day I came home to find one of my guitars face down on the carpet next to a tipped stand. Luckily it was a Fender and not a Gibson so the headstock didn't get broken off by the fall.

Now I hang them on the wall or keep them on a multi-guitar stand in a closed closet. The problem with that is I knocked something off a shelf in the closet and nicked one of them the other day. I KNEW that was going to happen eventually... luckily it's on a guitar that I never really did like the color of. I'm currently moving all the crap off the shelves of that closet, which I should have done a long time ago.

MC Elvis likes my guitars.

He chews the tremo bar tip on the Strat and the tuners on the red Les.

Other than that he leaves them alone, even the "Hello Kitty".

I have 2 cats, they don`t care about guitars, and seldom goes close. Some very fine hair can appear on guitars, but for it i have a wide, soft brush.
Most of my guitars and basses are in cases.
