CancerLeoCam April 3rd, 2012, 09:23 PM EZ4i6H70_LY mal paso April 3rd, 2012, 10:15 PM For the most part, that's what music does for me anyway bq75TmWoReU Good times, mildly apocalyptic and definitely 80's, yet strangely relaxing mal paso April 3rd, 2012, 10:16 PM Also, anything from 2001 J Hog April 3rd, 2012, 10:35 PM Blessed Relief - F. Zappa Oh yeah!!! I used to play that song for my non Zappa loving friends and asking them who it was. No one would guess Zappa. One of the biggest thrills of my life was having one of my former guitar students, who was home from college (he had a double major, guitar performance and music education) playing that song from the Real Book AND NAILING IT!!! Geoff738 April 3rd, 2012, 10:43 PM Back in my university days, I'd always put on Bonnie Raitt's the Glow before an exam. I just looked and I no longer have it. Where'd it go? Anyhow, that is so long in the past that I no longer recall any of the songs off it. Cheers, Geoff Fenderfiend April 3rd, 2012, 10:53 PM For the most part, that's what music does for me anyway I agree, it's all about escapism... Good times, mildly apocalyptic and definitely 80's, yet strangely relaxing  mildly revealing? It does seem futuristic, though. Something from the 23rd century... Almost Ray Bradbury-ish. twangplank April 3rd, 2012, 10:58 PM Metallica enter sandman!!! Just kidding Stevie Ray Vaughn "Lenny" That song is relaxing to listen to as well as play Steveareno April 5th, 2012, 08:05 PM When I saw this post, immediately thought of Albatross, when the original Fleetwood Mac were on top of their game, before it all went to pieces. This instrumental came right out of left field, and was a crossover hit all over the world (in some strange places). 6ombnqWR3eA Swang on, telepath April 5th, 2012, 08:17 PM Motorhead - Iron Fist. Oh .. Ok not that one .. Stuff by Morcheeba, or Zero 7, but neither artists are very 'guitary'/songy'. Many of the tracks on Ray Lamontagnes' most recent CD 'God Willing, and the Creek don't Rise' is giving me a nice aural rub-down currently. <Homer> Mmmm .. aural rub-down.... kkhcheeewwwgggghhhhhhgghh ........ </Homer> Lee Harvey April 5th, 2012, 08:58 PM Pretty much anything on Jason Laughlin's album Peach Crate teleblueman April 6th, 2012, 01:08 AM <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jsO-O8SG7yc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Stratburst April 6th, 2012, 01:24 AM Somebody already mentioned Nick Drake but I have to throw these songs into the mix: QSlh8u8Nrig P-Ya8adXZJE smallstoner April 6th, 2012, 01:59 AM yVQdo1_lSFQ IdahoPicker April 6th, 2012, 02:05 AM Pretty much anything by Don Williams. Green Lantern April 7th, 2012, 01:57 PM This tune is dark and mysterious, but also oddly soothing to me. Malice Mizer. Promises Exchanged at Midnight. Oh, those gently ringing bells in the beginning, and when the vocals come in at the intro, sometimes I have to repeat that segment. The delivery and melody. And then that bassline and how it keeps moving... Oh dear. This song. IklkFoSoiLQ DoodlySquat April 7th, 2012, 02:03 PM Riviera Paradise too. Faith No More cover was ok, but too much of a carbon copy for me... so just stick with the original. 7UHfu4w7jS8 w3stie April 9th, 2012, 07:55 PM Beethoven Moonlight Sonata O6txOvK-mAk burtonfan April 9th, 2012, 08:11 PM Emmylou..."Michaelangelo" |
