Help me sort this wiring schimozzle

I've just opened up my San Dimas style strat to get the middle position on my three way selector working... mama mia - what a can of worms i've uncovered!

The hot (green) wires are grounded, the ground (black) wiring goes to the pickup selector, and the pickup selector seems to be wired backwards. The tone pot capacitor also looks to be in the wrong spot... time to wipe this slate clean and start again.

I'm going to use this schematic as a guide:

I'm fine with most of this schematic, but still a little lost on the pickup selector. It has 8 lugs - 4 per side, yet only three positions. Can anyone clarify how I need to set this up?

So if you have 2 Humbuckers (Blk & Grn wires, or are they 4 wire?), 1 Volume and 1 Tone plus a 3way switch (which appears to be a 3way Tele/Strat switch), why don't you just wire it like a standard Telecaster. Google "Standard Telecaster Wiring" or go to the Seymour Duncan site and in the support section you'll find a load of wiring schematics. If they're 4 wire HB's, SD shows a "2 Humbucker" Tele wiring.

That would give you:
1. Bridge pickup only
2. Both pickups
3. Neck pickup only

On your schematic on the tone pot, I would switch where the cap and the wire to the volume pot are shown. A .022uf cap would work, but you can decide that. Make sure your output jack is wired properly and you have a ground running to your whammy assembly(bridge). Good luck.
