I know there's probably a thread around here somewhere; but I have a set of Fender Tex-Mex Tele pickups from a Deluxe Nashville Tele. I installed them in my American Tele along with a 4-way switch. They sound decent. I'm going for a Tele tone that's fatter and gutsier than the standard 50's/60's/70's variety. I'm thinking about a set of Texas Specials because of their output and "fatness" compared to others. I don't really think the CS Nocaster pickups would be fat enough for what I'm looking for. I was also told that the stock pickups from the new Highway One Teles might work too. They are Alnico 3 and wound hotter. Anyone have any experience or thoughts here?

I think you would like the TS better. They are really sweet with the 4 w.
I have a set in a 1995 Tele and love them, kinda hot and still TWANG ! The neck pup is great too.

Cool, I have also read, in several places, that the TS' really hit their stride in an alder Tele with a rosewood fretboard.

The Texas Specials would be perfect for your needs...the bridge is fat and still has some cut/twang...but a full mid tone...add some decent TS9 gain and you'll be in ZZ Top land

Another vote for Texas Specials, for what you want.

I love the CS Texas Special in my neck position. I can't say that I have heard the TS Bridge pup, but I have read that is powerful and great for Country, Rock, and the blues..

Texas Specials for what you're looking for. The TexMex pups are really like a hot vintage wind. The TS pups are an all-out high output design -- a tad boomy for my tastes, but sounds exactly like what you're looking for.

I don't like the hwy 1 pickups. For what you're looking for, the TX specials would work. I have only used the bridge, and you can get some gnarly tones. I have the bridge for sale....
