I read that the new pickups on the American standard tele are a broadcaster bridge and a twisted neck pickup. Would these be the same as the ones in a Baja model?

That would be my guess. Now the question will be, will they be the exact same (MIM, plastic wires) or will they be like the ones they were putting on some of the Custom Shop Deluxes (like from 2010 -- MIA with cloth wires)?

Place your bets!

They wila probably be the same as the mim. I think so anyway

The past American Standard tele lead pickup, like on mine which is from the 1990s, is far too dark and doesn't have the twang as on my three twangy vintage Fender teles and even my Squier tele.

That being said, those really dark and almost humbucker like American Standard tele lead pickups were great for hard rock, punk, and metal (but bad for traditional lower output twang and sparkle).

I for one would like to see the American Standard tele's lead pickup return to that original twang which made the tele such a great Fender instrument!

The new Standard's neck PU definitely has twang! I love mine, haven't taken off the pick guard yet to check out wiring, but they sound great IMHO. I AB'd against another American Standard and a couple other teles before purchasing mine. The PU's were what got me, the color was OK and the bridge almost a deal breaker...

^^^Just shows how much different peoples' tastes matter in this field. I do not care for the Twisted Tele neck pup in my Baja, but I LOVE the Nocaster. Glad to hear that it's going into the bridge of the new American Standards, but bummed that they're yanking out the formerly EXCELLENT AmStd neck pup to put in an inferior (IMO) Twisted Tele.
