Any experience with "y" from a/b/y vs. stereo outs? [Archive]

That's my question. I've used an a/b pedal a lot. But alas, in a crazed fit of urgent bill paying sold my bigger amp that didn't get used a lot. I'm good with what I've got, but they'll probably be a few oddball gigs this summer that are outdoors but amps not miked. May need to run two dissimilar 1X12 amps together. A Deluxe Reverb and a Crate V32. Tried it at the house today with the stereo outs from my Boss DD6 and it sounded fine and didn't seem noisy. Do the stereo outs run different that the y on an a/b/y that doesn't have ground lift?

I've used both approaches and never encountered any trouble (or hum). My a/b/y does have a switchable ground lift, but I never had to use it.
