teleowner0196 March 24th, 2012, 09:39 PM Would just like to know pros and cons of each and which would be a better buy(quality, mod-ability, etc.) Also, the Jag is a HH. How would some P94's sound in it??
Or a Fender Modern Player Marauder (kind of curious about the triplebucker)
Thanks

I have a Marauder. The quality is fantastic.
teleowner0196 March 27th, 2012, 07:08 PM What options does the pup selector provide on the Marauder? Also, are the slots big enough to change the pups to P94's?
Thanks
bodyelectric March 27th, 2012, 07:16 PM you should watch a demo of the marauder. there are so many options for pickup selection.

The switching is:
position 1: two back coils of triplebucker (humbucker)
position 2: all three coils of triplebucker
position 3: front coil of triplebucker only
position 4: front coil of triplebucker and Jazzmaster pickups
position 5: Jazzmaster pickup
This gives a wide range of sounds but there are more to be found with some switch wiring. I wouldn't mind if it had switches more like a Mustang for turning each pickup on and off. Maybe toggles for each coil of the triplebucker. In and out of phase. There are lots of possibilities for this guitar.
And the pickup slots are huge. I don't know how big a P94 is, but I'd be shocked if it didn't fit.
I like the guitar the way it sounds and have no plans on modifying it.

Here's the video that you're likely talking about. This guy's style is absolutely nothing like mine, but he gets some good sounds out of the guitar:

And yes, the guitar is very versatile. Many different sounds can be created by this instrument. I have a feeling they won't sell very many of these, which is a shame as they're excellent guitars and different from the "Me too" Teles, Strats, and Les Pauls.
teleowner0196 March 28th, 2012, 06:59 PM Thanks bugo! Beautiful Marauder by the way. Do you know what kind of hard case would fit this guitar?
teleowner0196 March 28th, 2012, 09:24 PM I see it is made of koto I.E. plywood wood... does this affect the tone negatively or does it make no difference?

Koto is not plywood, it's the wood that Japanese Kotos are made of. It's a semi-exotic tonewood.
bugo March 30th, 2012, 04:46 AM Thanks bugo! Beautiful Marauder by the way. Do you know what kind of hard case would fit this guitar?
A generic case I bought at the store I bought the guitar at. It doesn't have a name brand on it. It's the kind with the velcro straps that hold the neck steady. I assume it's a Strat/Tele case, but I haven't tried putting the Marauder in my Tele case.
bugo April 1st, 2012, 12:46 AM Another possibility is the J Mascis Jazzmaster, which is basically a CV Jazzmaster. It has P90 style pickups in it. It's similar to the Jaguar and has the scale of the Strat. You might want to take a look at it if the signature on the back of the headstock doesn't turn you off (I'm a Dinosaur Jr fan so the sig doesn't bother me, but if it were an artist that I don't like it would probably bother me.)
teleowner0196 April 1st, 2012, 04:53 PM Wow it does look very nice! I think I am pretty set on a Marauder now though  one more question, I see in the picture on Zzounds, the headstock says Fender with "MARAUDER" behind it like most fender guitars have (name behind logo I mean) Is that optional, or is there a way to have it put on? I kind of like the look of the name on it.
Thanks
teleowner0196 April 3rd, 2012, 08:49 PM I like everything about the marauder and in fact pulled the trigger on one yesterday (waiting for the order to come in ) Thanks for sharing your knowledge and pictures bugo, both proved to be very helpful to me.
