I'm looking to build a wood stand to get my amps off the basement floor in case of flooding. Any suggestions on type of wood, solid vs hollow, etc?

If it were me, I would get a couple of plastic milk crates. If they get wet, no problem. If wood gets wet, it is going to be a problem.

But that is just me.

The simplest idea is usually the best. I think this is perfect. Why didnt I think about it?

I ripped a sheet of 4' x 8' birch plywood and made a shadow box out of it. If you don't have a table saw, cut up some wide shelving.
Wood doesn't really matter, because you can just put it on a shallow riser made out of something else, or a wood riser insulated with a thin peice of plastic to prevent it from wicking. It's the easiest material to work with anyway. My music gear has been in basements for ~35 years and have run into only two water 'events'. I have everything on stands and have saved many thousands of dollars in damage. Just do it, it looks cool and it's an easy way to take care of your gear.
