Does anyone know where I could purchase some of the Vintage style "tootsie roll" caps as used on early Teles?
I'm looking for either original or reproductions.
Thanks to all!

there is a site on the web selling used caps at ridiculous prices. cripes $25 for a blue "tootsie roll" cap is crazy.
the cap type(poly, mylar, ceramic) in a guitar has little effect on the tone. The cap type in a tube amp has dramtic effect on ones tone.

Capacitors in your wiring have no effect on your sound. That said, metal film capacitors have the least amount of variance and the highest tolerance for temperature. Chicklet=good. :)

Are these the ones you're looking for? They're easy to make. Lift or copy the CD layout off an original and print on a Brown supermarket bag. Basically you wrap it around a poly cap, your choice of values, which AE Supply sells. Dip the thing in Hide Glue, let dry and dip in heated Beeswax. If you need one let me know, I've got a couple left from the last batch I made.http://www.lilypix.com/photos/data/c74d97b01eae257e44aa9d5bade97baf/417_p5865.jpg
