Well, I got my Strats out today... passed them around to the boys..

An old school mate from the city dropped around today with his two older teenage lads to look for a guitar ...
one lad was having a birthday and wanted to get a good guitar...he only has an acoustic, his brother has a 02 mex strat and a marshall stack....

I said I had a few.. bring them over and they can play all my guitars and see which one they like.... and to give them the Fender lowdown/history lesson..
they were good young players and had band experience...

I pulled out...
2x87 first run Corona strats....
2x83's.. a hardtail and a trem one... 2 knobs...
2x 2002 strats, one a deluxe..
a 2008 Beck deluxe with noiseless pu's...
a 91, lace pu's...
and a few Teles...:roll:

all played through my super 210 + 3x12 bin.... same settings...

*the PU's that raised eyebrows, warmed the room and the *kids liked the most were the 83's... they sounded great...the 83 strat and the 83 tele blew them away... WOW.. :shock:..they both said to those tones....

the one birthday boy wanted to play the most was the 2008 "Beck" deluxe V neck strat... he wasn't having that one though..:twisted:

the last guitar I brought out was a road worn nitro burst deluxe '02/ RW neck, 50th ani PU's... a few chips and gouges.. some wood showing under the arm,etc.... I was holding that one back in case he liked it...

well he did.... played it, loved the neck, the PU's , the relic body....:roll:

OK.. take it home with you.... play it for a month and see if you like it...... his eyes popped out a bit... yeh, go on.. just take it home...play the sucker through your bro's marshall....:twisted:.

dammit.. it was a good guitar, too....... I hope he hates it....:lol:... :twisted:

a kid needs a guitar if he's going places, though.... :wink:... and I play my teles more these days....

good to compare all the strats together on one day, different players/styles... same amp settings....
quite a difference between the PU's...
the nicest bass/overall tones were from the 83's..... even the kids agreed...:cool:

Cool, Ive been doing a lot of research on the '83s as I am an '83 model myself. I'd love to have an '83 with the early logo, preferably a hardtail too which is somewhat hard to find. What color are yours? I'd like a sienna sunburst, would love to see some pics or yours if you have any.

all my 83/84's are black. just like the model T's....:wink:.. one's a hardtail, too..:grin:

the kids old man will throw me the bucks if he wants the 02 strat.... or he'll buy it himself...what it cost me probably.... so it's not exactly a gift... if he's happy with the guitar he'll play it more often....

he's an old mate though.. so I'd be happy to give it to his kid for old times sake...:smile:

I gave away another parts strat earlier this year, a HSH, to a friends' son who moved to the city with his band mates to give music a go.. he needed some grunt... sure I can do that..:twisted:... remember me when you're all famous, I told him...:lol:
