Older MBox 2, Mac OSX 10.7.3 Connection Issues! [Archive]

When it comes to recording, I'm still basically a beginner.
I just purchased a new Mac Book Pro which I want to do some simple demos with Garageband.
I went to the Digitech/Avid site and downloaded a driver which powered up and recognized my older MBox 2.
Then the problems began....
Garageband became either painfully slow or won't open at all.
I had error messages that "detected a midi timeout", "midi settings not available" and of course the MBox won't work!
Any ideas what's wrong?
I hope this is enough information so one of you experts can help me out!
