Need a short term fix

Lost my GDEC amp which I used to upload and play backing tracks while I play. The GDEC loops the tracks automatically and also has a stereo left right out; which went to my mixer for recording. I mic my amp and vocals and that all works great for me and isolated in different tracks in the DAW.

GDEC is off for repairs and I have some limited options until I get it back.

1. I can load the backing tracks into my DAW and monitor those tracks in headphones and play along but have to deal with some latency.

2. I could play them on my PC using windows media and take a stereo line out of my soundblaster sound card and plug it into my mixer, again using the headphones on the soundcard.

I'm wondering if anyone is using an MP3 player to monitor and to plug into a mixer? If so any recommendations?

This is a short term fix until I get the GDEC back. It was nice because I had tons of backing tracks which I could just select from presets and turn it loose and the sound quality out of the amp was great for a monitorand far enough away from my actual amp to not get picked up on the mics. Kind of hokey but what I evolved to.

No. 1 might be your best bet if you mute the channel you're recording to reduce latency.

Thanks Woodman.

Yep #1 with monitors turned off and headphones on. Just have to be faster turning record on and getting ready to play. The little GDEC was the last thing I had to turn on before.

Anyway I'm good with this and I probably will continue to do this by adding a nice clean version in the DAW after I record once I get the GDEC back. Might of learned something here. Scary.
