TechJunky March 6th, 2012, 08:17 PM I've been wanting an acoustic for a while now, and it's been a loooong time since I last had one, so today I figured it was time I was due. I took some gear in that I didn't want/need and walked out with this beautiful Breedlove Passport C250. It's not the highest model guitars by any stretch, but for the price it really is an amazing guitar. The frets are superb, great sustain, full tone which seems very balanced to my ears. I didn't walk in with a specific model to buy, I just spent a good hour+ playing everything that seemed reasonably priced until I found the one that spoke to me. I originally figured I'd walk out with a lower end Martin (played a few I really liked) or Taylor (played a 110 a few weeks ago that I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing, cause that was flawless), but made myself play anything and everything to be thorough. If I didn't find anything I wanted, I'd walk out and go somewhere else. However, after I played this one, I kept coming back to it. There simply wasn't anything better, and it just spoke to me, so of course I had to have it! Anyway, this will be the last piece of new/used gear I add for a very long time. I keep saying that, and find loopholes to get more stuff, but I've officially run out of stuff I don't want that I can sell to get more stuff, and I'm pretty sure my fiance is at or will reach her breaking point very soon, so without further ado, the very like last piece of gear for 2012!!

LGOberean March 7th, 2012, 02:55 AM That looks like the C250/CM version (solid Cedar top, laminate Mahogany back & sides). I've played one of those, its tone had a sweetness and warmth to it, and was a a joy to play. Congrats.
I am a Breedlove fan. I have an older, discontinued model AD25/SM (Atlas line, Dreadnaught size & shape, deep cutaway, solid Sitka spruce top, solid Mahogany back, laminate Mahogany sides). She's my go-to gigging acoustic/electric. Here she is just a month or so after I got her.

The C250 isn't that expensive (you're right, it's a really nice guitar for the money), and if money were no object, I'd probably already have one.
Joe-Bob March 7th, 2012, 10:35 PM Breedloves are really nice guitars. I have an Atlas maple jumbo 12 string that's a really great sounding guitar.

tonedreamer March 7th, 2012, 11:30 PM congrats on your new guitar. That's a beautiful breedlove... almost bought one when I decided on a Taylor.. I really liked the fact they were made in Oregon (home state for me)
record a little clip so we can hear the tone! I wanna hear that thing!
TechJunky March 8th, 2012, 06:32 AM LGO, you are correct that it's the CM model. I'm still really amazed at the quality given the lower price. Some may say solid tone woods are ideal or better, but I just went for what played and sounded the best to me, and this one won hands down! Those Breedloves posted are beautiful guitars. I was a little put off by their designs initially, but the more I saw them, the more I've come to like them. A lot.
Velvet Fingers, unfortunately I don't have a good way to record it at the moment. I have no idea how it sounds through a cable/amp, but I've never been a big fan of hearing acoustics that way (except in live cases where it's necessary), and I only have one dirt cheap microphone which I'm not sure even functions anymore haha. I'll have to look into seeing how to best record this someday though.
GigsbyBoyUK March 8th, 2012, 06:44 AM There's a shop in town selling Breedloves and they all seem really good.
gitold March 8th, 2012, 08:17 AM I have a Breedlove Atlas Non Electric rosewood dreadnought and a C250 passport. Although the larger Breedlove has a bigger, more impressive sound I find myself playing the C250 much more. It has such a sweet sound and fits great on your body compared to the large dreadnought. Have fun with that guitar!
jbdrumbo March 9th, 2012, 03:46 AM Breedloves are really nice guitars. I have an Atlas maple jumbo 12 string that's a really great sounding guitar.

I've got one of those Atlas jumbo 12s, too, Joe-Bob, and I like mine as well. The jumbo size makes for a richer texture to the lower notes, and the guitar makes some great sounding 12 string chime, as well.
trev333 March 9th, 2012, 03:53 AM I was in a local music shop last year and a guy is checking out a few acoustics...
he was playing one mighty fine guitar with a sound hole in the top side?... it caught my attention..mmm?... what's this one... A Breedlove, he said.. I think it was a grand+...
.. it did sound quite nice.... and the build was first class... first time I'd seen one...
