Joyo Digital Delay Review

Alright, so after I got the Joyo Vintage Overdrive and Ultimate Drive with great success I decided to purchase their digital delay to add some crisp delays to my arsenal. I already have a Deluxe Memory Boy and I really like its warmth and analog sound but it lacked the crisp kind of delays that I find useful for some songs. In my mind digital delays are more like exact copies of the original sound, more clear so I thought I couldn't go wrong with the Joyo Delay. I got it in the mail yesterday and put it up next to my Danelectro Fab Delay (which I am not a big fan of) and I can say that this delay is well worth the money. Its very crisp, but it still maintains a smoothness found on more expensive analog delay pedals. It certainly has some applications for me. Its not perfect like I thought the Vintage Overdrive and Ultimate Drives were, but its definitely what I was looking for. So if you want an analog sound steer clear of this one.

My bass player and I both bought one. The guitarist in the bass player's other band heard his and ordered one. I don't think they sound as "digital" as say a Boss DD-3 or a rack delay. I haven't A/B'ed it with my Space Echo, but I think it sounds pretty "natural."

I have two of the Joyo Digital Delays and I find them to be quite a bit more analog sounding than my DeltaLab Effectron ADM1024 rack delay. I like the way the repeats decay on the Joyo and I especially like that the delays aren't cut off when you switch the pedal off. That last delay is allowed to finish, so that it doesn't just disappear abruptly. That's pretty good implementation, in my opinion.
