TeleToTheRain

Well I've been a Strat guy for over a decade and a half and recently got a Gretsch but am looking for something more. I had a modified Tele for a while (get ready... HSS with a Floyd) can't really call it a Tele though. I'm just finding that the more I play the more I just want one guitar that's simple, versatile, and looks good doing it. Plus, why bother with tremolo when I rarely use it. I'm a member on all the other forums but every time I type a guitar related question into Google I'm directed here! So here I am.
I have two Tele bodies coming and a box full of Tele parts that's been siting around, so I've been prowling looking for tips and ideas. One will be straightforward, maybe even an Esquire. (dare I say a "stealth" style) It's a pine body and I'm trying to build it on the cheap all from leftover parts, freebies, and eBay specials. The other is mahogany and it will have P90s and be a bit more exotic. I know neither is truly traditional and I should probably start with a standard Tele, and I'm sure I'll wind up there, but right now I just want to see where this road takes me, it will use up a lot of parts I have lying around and won't cost me as much as a typical "partscaster" because of it.
Glad to be here.
