Magnawolf March 1st, 2012, 06:34 PM So I was wondering if there were any cheap pedalboards that were tiered that you know of? I'm thinking $150 or less for the pedalboard and ATA case, at least 28 inches long. I don't think it exists so my more serious question is whether or not it's possible to either 1) build a tier easily (what's a good method?) 2) Buy a tier to attach to the board
ruger9 March 1st, 2012, 08:26 PM Never seen a cheap one. I considered building my own, but never followed thru. I know you can buy "pedal risers" to put under your pedalboard back line; this is roughly the same thing as a tiered board. (I actually used a 2x4 under my back line for awhile, but all the extra velcro was a PITA).
jnepo1 March 1st, 2012, 11:06 PM LYTE pedalboards are tiered and somewhat inexpensive w/ a flightcase.

Sorry, I thought you said tired pedalboard:oops:

Stole my comment!!!
TeleSky March 2nd, 2012, 01:22 PM I had this same Issue a while ago, and couldn't find anything/didn't want to spend a ton of money on something I could build myself. I went to the local thrift store and found an old trunk, modded the hinges so they could detach easily, and I use the lid side as the board.
I then built the board that can separate in to 3 pieces. The top left tier has my loopstation, reverb, and a phaser (all powered by a separate onespot) that detaches and becomes my acoustic board.
The tiers can be moved around on the board to allow for different wah/volume/expression pedal placements in the chain. They also have hinges that fold up to allow for easy access underneath the tiers (helps organize cables, and makes it easier take off and move)
While it isn't the best looking board out there, The functionality (for me) is unparalleled. Hope this helps

Thanks Jefe! Sometimes the solutions to our "problems" are a lot closer than we realize
But seriously, I just love working with my hands and am always looking for projects when I have the spare time, that board is an evolution of probably 2 or 3 previous board builds.
Jefe March 2nd, 2012, 02:03 PM I especially like the mini-board that detatches and become it's own board. I may steal that one, lol.. I love making stuff too, and I try to share my ideas when I think I've come up with something unique.. so, thanks for sharing!

The innovative folks on this forum never cease to amaze me. Color me impressed!

My thoughts exactly. I've run out of room on my board and have been thinking about building v. buying, and also love the tiered concept.
Jefe March 3rd, 2012, 11:21 AM Anyone who is halfway good at building stuff should really just build their own board, IMO. I don't quite get why someone would spend hundreds of dollars on a pedalboard when a slab of plywood & a can of spraypaint works just as well. It may not look as pretty, but my old plywood miniboard cost me nothing, and has worked for years.
ToadLC March 3rd, 2012, 12:08 PM I added a tier for my back row. A little scrap wood, spray paint and some hardware didn't cost much. I made it just tall enough that my power supply fit under it.
