Repair or not?

Hey all, just wondering how difficult a repair this would be? Ran across this and don't know if it is worth fixing. Comments?

That doesn't look hard at all. Are you going to try to do it yourself or take it somewhere for repair?

Even though lots of folks use it, I would not use Titebond as it does not resist extreme temperature changes as well as hide glue. Hide glue is the best way to go but it does take a bit of know how so unless you are comfortable using it, it is best to have somebody else handle the repair.

You might think about using Luthiers Mercantile Instrument Makers Glue.

Hide glue means the kind that you cook in a pot, not liquid hide glue. It's not for everyone, and the thickness of the glue needs to be matched to the repair. Me, I'd be fine with Titebond, even epoxy (not 5 minute!) would work (though some would disapprove). Titebond will give you sufficient setup time, which you will want for this repair. (If you leave your guitar in the car on a hot day, that headstock repair coming undone will be the least of your concerns.)

At least as important as the glue is making sure you have clamps that will let you pull the pieces back together correctly and hold them there while the glue dries.
