make up my mind for next build

This amp building bug has got a hold of me now, and I'd love to have some ideas for my next build..I prefer Fender tones with plenty of headroom and just enough dirt..I would love to build something the size of say a hot rod deluxe (as I've owned on in the past) with 1 or 2-12"..thats about as much weight as I want to lug .....not sure if I want or need reverb in it ?..even 112 is enough weight.. I really have enjoyed building the Trinity 5E3 kits and Stephen uses very good components but I think the rest of his bigger kits are more Marshally...What do you guys suggest for a kit complete with chassis and trannys and would Prefer an Eyelet board over a turret or PCB..?? Thanks in advance..

Hello,

How bout a Fender Harvard 5f10 circuit? I think Weber would be the place to look for a kit for that. Best of luck in your choice. :-)

Ernie, I'm about to do a Trinity Tramp as a head build, it's a versatile little amp you can run as a 6 watter with a 6V6 or a 12 wattter with a 6L6. With a Head build you can use it into your 5E3 cab, sit the head on top like that and you also have a backup amp too!!.

Stephen just finished a small run of Head cabinets to suit the kit, he just sent me some pics of my finished cab, I went with Fender Blonde Tolex.

Dennis: I'm not familiar with the Harvards, but I'll have a look at them..Thank you..

Wow, Stephen does some nice work..that head looks great Snowy..The Trinity Tramp is exactly the one we have been looking at, but thinking maybe it's too close to the tweeds we just finished and thought about getting in waaaay in over my head and try something more complex, but maybe that dirty little tramp might be ok..does it not have impedance selector switch, and can also run 6V6, 6L6, el84 or KT88 , plus switchable wattage as you mentioned..

Allen Sweet Spot, Chihuahua, or Accomplice. I believe there's a 10% off special right now.

How about a larger Tweed Fender? Something like a 5f4/5e5/5e7( super, pro, bandmaster) or even a low power Twin(5e8) or a two speaker version of the Bassman (5f6a).

I contacted Mr Allen at Allen amps and David mentioned his Accomplise 112 kit, thats on sale as you said t-luxe but I don't need everything he offers in the kits, ie cabinet and speaker, so I'll wait to hear back from him..maybe thats the only way he prefers to sell them is with everything but it'll cost too much to get it shipped up here with the dog sled..

bigdaddy-o: I love the ol Traynor YBA-1 and the bandmasters, but 1, I really have no need for anything over 40 watts and 2, I feel being such a pain in the A** to many people that were kind enough to loan me their ears and knowledge getting these last 2 5E3's up and running, I Do Not want to get in Way over my head with the next build and repeat the same frustration to all involved...I really want to challenge myself and I'd love to do a complex unit with 502 dials and switches on the front as i'm Very confident, I can follow the dotted lines and get all the components in most of the right places :)and solder them in correctly per the diagram, but when it comes time to troubleshoot,,,I could be opening up a big pail of nasty stinky worms and thats the part thats holding me back..

How about this one? Not a Fender clone but one hell of an amp...

Allen's kits are available in head format. Shouldn't be too difficult to delete the cab if you desire...

You might also ask him about his Brown Sugar and Old Flame amps.
