No, not another thread about how to paint TV yellow. but I would like to know what's out there in rattle cans that are a nice pleasant (dull, not bright) yellow. What I usually would call a banana yellow. I remember reading that Fender's blonde butterscoth has a nice yellow look to it. Can anybody confirm that?
If such a thing does not exist I think I'll expirement with spraying an amber tint on top of a white, a creme, and maybe yellow and see if anything pleasant turns up. I'm looking for a solid color, no need to see the woodgrain.

ReRanch has it. Not sure if it's any good, but looks fine on their website.

I knew about that, but the process was much more than I wanted to get into since this isn't a restoration. But the link to the ebay seller looks interesting. I'm thinking sprayed over a primer would give it a more solid color look.

I was in Walymart last night looking for some outdoor furniture paint and came across a really nice pale yellow by Krylon (Indoor/Outdoor). I don't recall the name of the color, but they had a bright yellow as well. I took it home and sprayed a couple coats and it looks great! Almost like a white guitar that had really yellowed. And from what I saw, the more you put on the more yellow it will become. I think this is what I'm going with. $5 a can.
I know krylon is not the paint of choice for most people here, but those who have used it, any things I need to be aware of?

Here's Reranch vintage cream, which may be like what you
call banana yellow.

i've had good luck with reranch cans...the butterscotch is a bit more yellow than the old fenders but it's still a nice tone.

Yes, that's the color I'd like to go for. a little more yellow wouldn't be bad - makes me think the butterscotch might do it. Ohio Valley Nitro carries the Fender butterscotch, but not sure about the vintage cream. Fortunately I frequent the city they're in so no shipping charges.
I'm under the understanding that the new (tapered cap) krylon cans are enamal now?
