Weird Loud Picking sound on my strat or amp?

I heard a loud picking sound coming through the amp ( a new amp, roland cube 20xl). and an used strat vintage CIJ. (texas pickup maybe)
it's even louder when i increase the volume, on a clean sound i still can hear it loud, but not as loud as with high gain+distortion.
Actually i think it's not picking sound itself, because the sound's like when the pick is 'make contact' or 'touching' the string before picking,
that's why i heard this before the notes itself.

Every note. so if i play 5 notes, i heard 5 pick sounds.

I search everywhere, and try some alternative like use a thicker pick, decrease the treble, gain, but still the same.
and I guess it's not the picking technique, i try all the angles, try gently picking, etc. but the noise is coming when my pick/nail make contact with the string (not grounding noise). it's like "cloc cloc cloc" if i turn the treble/gain down then the picking sound become more dull but still loud out there like "blugh blugh blugh".

I feels like the pickup/amp is super sensitive catching all the sound. I try this: i completely muted the string with my left hand and touch the edge of my pick on the string, it's making contact/touch sound coming though the amp, almost the same sound i heard when i picking.
So once again..it's not about the picking, it's when the pick/nail is touching the strings.
I try all 5 switch position but it's the same. very loud with high gain+distortion it's about the notes sound:60%, picking/touching sound:40%.

The question is, the problem is my guitar?or my amp?
I have no another guitar or amp, so i can't figured it yet.
Pls kindly help.. thanks.

Are your pickups super close to the strings?

I used to get that same effect when I played with my pickups raised too high and when I used a pedal with a lot of gain.

It didn't help that my amp sucks eggs...

maybe your strings touching magnets of the pickups because you have them set too high?

Sounds crazy--but is your wristwatch near the pickups in some way?

Been there... Took me a minute to figure that one out. It sometimes is the simplest answers.

Hi all thanks, but i've tried to lowered the pickup but it's still the same.
even i tried to lowered it almost flat with the pickguard but i can still hear it.
and i'm not using a wristwatch..

Here's the soundclip: http://soundcloud.com/slianto/guitar-or-amp-noise

Sounds to me you have a microphonic pickup. Try tapping the pickup with your pick, can you hear the tapping through the amp?
A possible solution is to pot the pickup in wax or lacquer, though this will probably change the sound somewhat. (I haven't heard the sound clip yet). If it doesn't squeal, I'd leave it.

Don't rule out the amp either. Try another amp if you can.

i'll try at another amp when i have the chance.and let u know the result.

yeah i think it's microphonic pickup since it's too sensitive catching any sounds around, i tried to tap the pickup with my pick and i can hear the sound through the amp, not loud though but the tapping sound's definitely there.

i remember when the guitar came, i have no amp around so i just clean the guitar open the pickup (at first it's stick with the cover because of wax), and i clean the excess wax around especially on the polepieces, of course i don't know what i did that time, until i read about potting the pickup..my bad...
could it be the cause?

Shouldn't, the excess wax is just that: excess. The most important part of the wax is in the coil and can't be scraped away. Again, it seems to me that your pup is fine. If it isn't squealing, don't worry about it.

i don't know if that sound is categorized as squealing or not... it's kinda squeal but also a bit muted. sounds like that.

and it is loud man, i guess that's not normal.
pls hear the soundclip and u'll know what i mean T_T
