It seems like every time we rent a movie from Blockbuster it gets stuck halfway through because of scratches on the disk. I have found that polishing compound will often (though not always) removes the scratches and get it running again. Guitar hobby saves the day (and earns points with the family)!

Thanks for the tip. It always happens to me. It's frustrating. I'll give it a try.

I hear you. We haven't been there in a long time, but when we did rent their stuff, some of those scratches needed to be sanded out first....then polished.

I use a lens cloth. The kind you use to clean your glasses. Wipe the DVD from the centre out. Works for me.

I've always used alcohol and tp. Helps if you have 2 DVD players. If one won't fly, it'll usually play on the other. I wonder what bizarre history these discs must have to end up looking like they do.

Why don't we buy SD cards instead of DVDs?
