I'm playing and singing "Crazy" at a memorial service next Tuesday. I'll be doing it solo. I'll either borrow an A/E or use my Yamaha 335-type on the neck pickup for a clean, warm tone. Still waiting for details on the PA to determine that.
I searched the forum and found this thread, which was helpful:

I decided to do pretty much this version:

I want to keep the guitar accompaniment fairly simple, not too jazzy, both so that I am less likely to mess up and to emphasize the vocal. So the guitar will be pretty close to what Willie is doing. But because I am playing solo, there are a few parts where I need to flesh things out a bit, and I need some help with those parts.
1) In the verse, over the lyric "blue", where it comes back to the C chord, I want to do some kind of turnaround to fill in the space. Again, I don't want to get too jazzy, so no Cmaj7 C#dim7 Dm7 G13 or anything like that. The band is doing a bass note figure that I think is C B C C# C# D C# C B. Are there some chords that would fit with those bass notes so that I could do both?
2) Going from the verse to the bridge, with the lyric "new", there is a bass note figure that I think is C B C D C# D D# D D# E, for the transition from the C chord to the F chord. Again, are there some chords that would work with those bass notes?
3) Transitioning from the bridge back to the verse, with the lyric "do", is it just G to G+? Is there something more that I could do there to fill it out a bit?
4) At the very end, where it comes back to the C chord with the lyric "you", is there some turnaround that I could use from that C chord to wind up ending on say a C6add9? Or would that be too jazzy given that the rest of the arrangement is pretty straight?
Thank you to everyone for any help!
