FirstBassman February 15th, 2012, 05:29 PM A Chet Atkins acoustic electric guitar and a Zen Drive, I just don't know the settings on this intro . . .

Plus, I don't have a Chet Atkins guitar or a Zen Drive stomp box.
Like the scene in Apollo 13, this is what I got: an Ibanez A/E guitar, a Bad Monkey, a Tube Screamer and a Seymour Duncan Tweak Fuzz.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

boneyguy February 16th, 2012, 08:40 PM I'm not sure what you're expecting or asking. You want people to tell you how the Zendrive is set and how the knobs are set on the guitar from listening to the YT clip?!! What good would that even do since you don't own that gear anyway???
I'd suggest that you set your stuff up, plug in and twiddle some knobs and try to get close to it.

Axis29 February 17th, 2012, 08:20 AM Which Chet Atkins guitar? Gretsch? What pickups? Dynas or Filters?
You left out amps... and I have no familiarity with the Ibanez, or tweak fuzz...
So, what you're asking is a specific question about gear those 93 (and me!) folks might not be familiar with...
But, trying to be helpful just the same: I'd turn the gain up on the bad monkey and mess around with the EQ. I think the tweak fuzz will be too heavy, the BM offers more flexibility over EQ than the TS. That's where I'd start any way.
Guran February 17th, 2012, 03:53 PM I hear much more of playing technique than settings in that intro.
Medium gain, which would mean fairly high settings on either the BM os the TS. EQ to taste, but the important part is: played with fingers and a light touch.
So a fair amount of dirt and light touch finger playing should get you close.
Now a fair amount of dirt and an A/E guitar, assuming you mean electric acoustic, may not be the best combination, but hey, go ahead and try!

Yeah, well, that's very true.
But if I could play as well as Jorma I would have quit my day job a very long time ago.

Jorma plays a Gibson Chet Atkins SST:

fezz parka February 17th, 2012, 05:28 PM Uhhhh....Use your ears. Turn some knobs until you hear it.
Mjark February 17th, 2012, 05:49 PM He's a pretty big boy these days. I first saw him in 1966.

Well, he's a slightly large man and Jorma has certainly filled out since his heroin days but I wouldn't say he is overweight if that is what you were inferring.
