Seems a while ago I was always coming home from a shift and walking thru the door and getting angry: I'd be barking at the 16yo twin boys to "Get off the --- XBox and get off my TV -go practice, and practice some more" and they'd sort of grudgingly switch to the small TV and keep doing Xbox... ugh! Around and around we went. I got used to the disappointment that "XBox rulez" etc. All last year they were doing some prac on their higain amps... but guitar was just one of their things they do, not at the center.
Anyway I successfully sparked up their interest when I brought home an Eleven rack, a poweramp, and a new PC to handle Avid Pro-Tools around Christmas. [Still, they asked if they could load computer games on the new PC and I said NO. Headslap moment there..]
I also got a new flat TV for me, a 55in, because of bluray and the Tour De Frwance is now in HD. And the Olympics are coming.
Anyway, leaving them to it, and not pushing, has worked it seems. A few times now I have come home and could hear the guitars going from the driveway. But the other day -YAY!
Inside the living room it was a sight! This is a different century for sure. Not being much of a tech head at all, they have it sorted for themselves-- the PC plays the guitar pro sheet music and the backing track but they disconnected the PC monitor and use a HDMI cable into my 55in TV to scroll the sheetmusic! They stand there playing -the Eleven rack and rack stuff is playing one guitar and the other one is into a high gain tube amp. Its a bit competitive between them, and I'm happy about that. Xbox and Facebook may one day fade off the scene, I'm betting it'll be right after the lamb Of God gig in a coupla weeks.
