So we are wrapping up our first set of teles, 4 of them.
We have used just about a gallon of Nitro Lacquer.
We are waiting for them to dry to the point that we can wetsand and polish.
My question is, how much paint do you guys generally use per guitar.
Thanks,

This is how Leo did it back in the day. Three pints of clear for five bodies.

3 pints for 5 bodies... That doesn't seem like much gloss lacquer is applied to me...
Hmmmm
Is this what most of you guys are using?

Depends how well you can spray and avoid orange peel. I'm at the point where I can get it smooth enough that I don't have to wet sand and polish but it's not quite perfect. I probably use about 1 to 11/2 spray cups but about half of that is thinner. After I have a good base I'll sand it flat with some old 220 and then give it one last coat thats about 75% thinner which helps level it and removes the sanding scratches.

We used 25% thinner.
We definitely have some orange peel to sand out, but not what I would call excessive. It seems to sand out really easy on our test parts.
My partner in these guitars thought that we should thin in more. I was afraid that we were going to have runs everywhere if we did.
So you use about 1 to 1 1/2 pints per body, but you have thinned it a lot more than we did.
I think that next round we are going to thin more, but I think I might have a ways to go before I get to no sanding and polishing....
Thank you for the help!
Next set we are going to have to try more thinning.

That sounds like a LOT
If your spraying it on....
for a guitars I use 3/4 pint of clear,
Thats using a HVLP gun with 2k urethane clear
FWIW for an entire motorcycle I use a 1/4 to 1/3 of a gallon,
