Tru-oil on Mahogany: grain fill or no?

Couple questions for the Tru-oil folks:

I am thinking of using Tru-oil to finish a mahogany body/maple cap project. The mahogony is natural, the maple cap is a green burst die with a feaux binding.

Questions:
1) Do I need to grain-fill the mahogany first? Or will eventually fill with enough coats?

2) I have a few dings in the mahogany at the glue line between the maple cap (see pic). What should I fill those with? Any problems with color mismatch when Tru-oil is applied?

3) What grit should I and to on both surfaces before 1st application?

Any guidance is much appreciated!

If it will be a satin finish just go to 320 or 400 grit to get the scratches out. As far as filling the grain maybe I suggest getting some wood putty and mixing abit of stain to blend to a similar color?

Thanks, Gordon. Stopping at satin but still got a ways to go prepping.

My concern with putty/stain is I am going a la naturale with mahohany so I'm afraid putty will darken differently when I apply the Tru-oil. Maybe a dumb question, but can I just mix some of the mahogany sawdust in with woodglue for the patch job?
