The Battle of the SH***ty band Contest...deluxe5D3 February 12th, 2012, 09:33 AM http://burlington.craigslist.org/muc/2846803086.html Saw this on CL.. I'm betting the poster is being facetious?.. Moonrider February 12th, 2012, 10:04 AM That's pretty much any battle of the bands . . . or any show at any "pay to play" venue. Paul in Colorado February 12th, 2012, 03:29 PM A few years ago the band I was in played a Battle of the Bands. When we showed up the judges recognized us and realized that we were good. Later in the evening, before the final bands had played we overheard one of the judges telling a member of a band that hadn't played yet, "You guys are getting second place and (other band) is getting first." I think they gave us third since they couldn't deny that we rocked the joint. But over all, the fix was in. Lowbassnotes February 12th, 2012, 03:45 PM Hilarious, they better make sure the chicken wire fence is in good shape for the required protection against all those flying full cans o' beer. I'll be waiting for the video of this one! chuck_zc February 12th, 2012, 04:08 PM Finally something with better odds than the lottery I'm hoping to win! RoadHouse here we come!! RollingBender February 13th, 2012, 10:12 AM A few years back, I was selected to be a judge at a high school battle of the bands. The band who won by a complete consensus between the judges wasn't the band with the best musicians but they had some sort of raw natural stage presence. During their double speed punk version of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire", the bass players mic stand's clutch let loose and the mic started slowly following the wrapped cord down and around the stand... over the course of the song, he followed it the whole way and wound up on his knees facing sideways, singing and not missing a note. |
