wiring problem

Phostenix,
I used your 4-way diagram-checked all wiring locations. All are apparently correct. I reversed the jack wires also. I just plugged it in and only get pick-ups
between the third and fourth switch position.Nothing at all on bridge(1),2,3, or 4. Please explain if the switch is faulty,or damaged,or if it is something else
entirely. Believe me,your help(or anyone elses) is desperately appreciated!
Note: I bought a pre-made 4-way harness.I've gotta tell you,it was sloppily
soldered. The bridge position on the switch had a glob of solder on it,such that
moving the lever to the bridge position was impossible.Tried de-soldering the
blob, but couldn't remove it.Finally,I used my Dremel tool with a tiny burr to
carefully remove the blob. The switch works perfectly now,but I wonder if I damaged it by grinding.?

It sounds like you bought a very poorly made harness. There are a lot of things that can go wrong. You could have fried the switch by trying to remove the solder blob, you could have damaged it by grinding it, you could just have some wiring wrong.

I never buy harnesses because I can read a diagram and solder them up on my own. However, if I lacked either of those skills and bought one, I would have returned the harness if it didn't function.

I posted this yesterday.

Hi,
You are correct-the harness was sloppily made-the problem was made worse by my total
inexperience soldering.Since the last message,I found a wiring mistake I made.Now, I have
signal in position two and three, and signal between position three and four. I also think
that I soldered the bridge wire to the opposite side of the switch-not sure about this.I'll
try moving the hot bridge wire tomorrow, but it still won't fix the position four problem.
Tomorrow should prove very interseting.
