I saw him a few times in the 80s.
I was never a big fan of the Avant Garde (Henry Kaiser gives me hives), but Fred was very cool...I suppose he still is.
Super nice guy...none of that "what-a-fine-boy-am-I" thing that can come with folks who fancy themselves on the cutting edge.

I'm a Fred Frith fan... especially the work he did with Bill Laswell under the band name Massacre.

Yes, I've been a Frith admirer for many years. Massacre, Skeleton Crew, Bears, solo albums...
I enjoy it when players (of any instrument) and composers seek to do something different. A fresh approach, a new utilization of their instrument, etc.
These types of experiments are not always successful--at least as far as being enjoyable ot interesting listening (subjective, of course)--but I appreciate it being tried.

Last I heard him was the "Rivers and Tides" soundtrack.
Throughout the movie I was thinking what interesting music it was.
Then I saw the credits.
He was fun to see live.
Lots of homemade things with strings and pickups.
