I'm in the process of building a tele bass/thin line and I'm using a j-bass pickup neck possition and G/L humbucker in the bridge position with a 3/way switch 1 neck 2 both neck and bridge and 3 bridge only. Can anyone help with the wiring and pot ohmage. I can't find anything even close to this anywhere on the net. Currently have 500 k pots. Think they should be 250K. The humbucker is mainly my problem

Thank you

Ben

Use this one. Closest to the thing you want, I guess.

And, yep, I'd use 250K's

Hi Ben,

I have several G&L wirings in my wiring collection pdf (more than 300 pages, 4.5 MB): http://161589.homepagemodules.de/t29f2-Cadfaels-kleine-Schaltplan-Sammlung-fuer-passive-E-Baesse.html (pdf is at the bottom of the site)

Normally humbuckers have 500k, but G&L used 250k pots with the humbuckers ...
In the end, it doesn't matter. You can use what sounds best ...

At a G&L, GREEN should be Ground, WHITE should be Hot and BLACK and YELLOW are the "internal wires" (see my pdf file, page 63-64).
So, what's "Red&White" in Immos posting should be "Black&Yellow" ...

I had a G&L L2000E and a L1000 in the past. Both had Treble/cut and Bass/cut tone controls. The Treble used a 250K and the Bass used a 1 mil pot.

Haven't been there for many years, but G&L used to have wiring diagrams available at their site. You will need one to correctly wire their pickup.

Any particular reason you want to combine those two pickups in that format? I would opt for the G&L alone mid-position like a L1000, or put the J at the bridge if anything. I didn't find the L1000 to need any help, but a L2000 player might beg to differ.

thank you everyone but I guess I did not explain myself or I may have the wrong type switch. I HAVE A 3 POLE on/on/on MINI TOGGLE THAT i WOULD LIKE TO WIRE POS.1 NECK POS.2 NECK AND BRIDGE POS.3 BRIDGE.

The principle stays the same ...

Use my wiring diagram 2.2.01 ...
This shows 2 PUs with Master Volume, Master Tone and Mini-3way (Z / on-on-on) switch ...

The colours have been explained before (or see my PDF) ...
