There's someone in my neighbourhood selling a 50th Anniversary MIM gold Stratocaster with the 50th Anniversary tweed gig bag.

Is anyone familiar with this guitar? Other than the fact that it's a somewhat special edition, is it a good guitar? I'm looking for a quality guitar to play (nice neck, good pickups, hardware, etc) not a collectable investment. So the 50th Anniversary aspect would just be a bonus as far as I'm concerned.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your help

it's the same as the 50's classic*series, just gold hardware. one sold for $400 on ebay about 2 weeks ago. i'm still kicking myself for not bidding.

Go play it and you'll know.
If the guitar is great condition and nice playability wise, but you are not to fond of the tone, that's not big deal. There are a ZILLION awesome Strat pups out there.
What is the asking price ? It looks KILLER !

Thanks for the responses.
The asking price is $625CDN for the guitar and gig bag. And it comes with a Roland Micro Cube amp. I'm not really interesred in the little amp so I've asked the seller if he's willing to sell just the guitar and bag for a lesser price (like $500 maybe since the amp appears to go for about $125 new). But I read that the little amp is not bad for what it is. And a battery operated amp might come in handy. You never know.
So even if he won't sell the guitar separately and he won't negotiate on the price, I'll probably still go for it because I looked on ebay and they have five of those guitars listed anywhere from $700 to $1100 plus shipping. So the $625 appears to not be a bad price really considering it includes the little amp.
I'm just hoping it isn't sold yet.

only draw back with them is the AL guard can cause the bridge and mid pups to go microphonic at high gain setting.
can happen with any AL guarded strat even the CS models so...
