Can You Identify This Colour?

I've been thinking of getting a Stratocaster for some time now.

There is a 1996 (according to the seller) listed on our local Kijiji site that looks very nice at a decent price.

The seller claims the colour is "Peacock Blue". But I can't seem to find that colour in the Fender colour charts.

Look here (http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAdLargeImage?AdId=342859616) for a picture of the guitar.

More likely, it's Lake Placid Blue which was a color offered in 1996 (like the one shown here (http://www.musicpower.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=EGFW-0144602302#)). Or, looking at charts, I'd say it could also be the discontinued Agave Blue (http://www.guitarstop.com/Fender%20Colors/29_lg.jpg).

Has anyone ever heard of Peacock Blue as a colour used by Fender? Or does Squier have their own colours and maybe this is a Squier? Or do MIM Stratocasters have special colours?

I've asked the seller to tell me more about the guitar and to send me more pictures. Hopefully I'll hear back soon.

Regardless of the name it's a great colour and I'm interested in the guitar so any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

It looks like a LPB MIM standard. They come in a ton of colors including lake placid blue w/ maple neck.

Never heard of peacock blue, but it's a nice strat and I'm sure you'll love it. I have a 2000 MIM standard sunburst strat with custom shop 69's, american switching, pots, and mother of pearl pickguard. It looks nice, but I like the look of the one your interested in, whatever color it is it looks nice to me.

Random Agave strat pic from the MIM section and my Agave tele. I know the color changes a lot under different light, but I looked up from the screen at my tele and the colors are nowhere near similar.

Although a collector once told me San Marino Blue, "same as a '57 Caddy." '57 Caddys came in LPB.

I vote for Agave.

It's purtty. If it's a player and the price is right take it home.

If it's not LPB, I think it is probably Ice Blue Metallic, which is similar to Agave Blue but a little darker and bluer. The Agave Blue has a touch of green that I don't see in that guitar.

Under different lighting conditions, Ice Blue Metallic can look much darker blue than the color chart example.

A rose by any other name is still as sweet. Who cares what it's called!! IF you like it, BUY IT!! :-)

if it's a '96 and has the original finish then it's LPB, no?

You're absolutely right. I don't care what the name turns out to be. I like the colour regardless. My only reason for asking was so I could try to find out more about the guitar (like is it a Fender or a Squier?) since the seller didn't provide much information about it. I've sent him a message with several questions but I still have to receive a reply.

But now I've found another Stratocaster I'm interested in. It's a 2004 50th Anniversary MIM Shoreline Gold (I started another thread here (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/stratocaster-discussion-forum/312023-2004-50th-anniv-mim-strat-any-good.html) asking if anyone knows anything about them). I've also sent that seller a message and haven't received a reply there either. Right now I'm leaning more towards this Anniversary model because I think that since it's a limited edition it has better components and is a superior guitar overall.

In the end I just hope they both aren't sold yet and I can end up with one of them because they both look very nice. But that gold one is a real beauty so I'm keeping my fingers crossed about it.
