hey guys.

i have a cheapo strat and i'm upgrading her a little

i already put a dimarzo virtual vintage heavy blues 2 in the bridge pos some time ago.

and now the exciting part: a friend of mine ordered a mij mustang some time ago and converted it to a bridge hb. so now he's got a spare mustang pup that i will get, since i don't have a problem with unconventional things.

so my question: in which position would you put which pup? and which additional pup would you buy as a 3rd and in which position would you put it?

i don't have a prob with unusual suggestions, but i'm on a budget, so the cheaper the better.

thanks in advance. david

If you like the bridge pup I would put the mustangs in the middle and neck position. Or, you said you like unconventional, why not pass on 3 pups and just use the mustang pickups without a middle pup.

i got the mustang bridge pup yesterday.

i decided to put the mustang in the bridge position and switch the virtual vintage to the neck pos.

all i can say is WOW. i also put a fender 5way in there cause the old pcb switch was already starting to crap out and it fit right in.

the mustang pup sounds incredibly snappy and almost twangy, but not overly bright and the virtual v is one of the sweetest strat neck pups i've ever heard, but it's not the least bit muddy. the chinese ceramic pup that is left in the middle position is not going anywhere either. in position 2 and 4 it's chimey as can be and i hardly use the middle pup on its own anyways.

i'm stunned!
