Anybody Use a Powered Sub in Their Bass Rig? [Archive]

I just got a couple of small powered subs for my PA. Just for fun I ran one from the XLR Direct out of my Hartke Kickback 12 and stacked the amp on top. It sounded great. No shortage of low end with a P-Bass with flats. That'd make a killer portable bass rig where you didn't have to move a lot of air.

Does anyone else do this on a regular basis? Some kind of powered 15 or 18 sub cab would really add a lot to something like an SWR Redhead or other 2 x 10 combo.

Bassist here. Tried it many times, the low end is great, but it seems as though huge swaths of midrange content go away. So I cart around a grossly overpowered power amp and at least one SWR Goliath I.

I'd really like to see a GOOD rig done this way, while I still have discs in my back.
