I'm trying to set up a new session just something simple 4 audio stereo tracks. But each time I click the record button this comes " The track could not be record-enabled because it doesn't have both an active input and output assigned" I have shut the computer off and tried to set up a new session but still get the message. My existing session work fine . I using a Mac to record on . Any suggestions?

I read on line to try and disconnect the power to the mbox reconnect it that might work and it did. Always a simple answer.

My girlfriend says you should have ended your last post with, "I want to thank the Forum for your all of your help!"

Seriously, glad you fixed the problem. Recording is the most rewarding and frustrating thing I've ever done. And as you know, we're always here for you.

You didn't say if you checked the input and output setup on the pull down menu, if you have a single ( mono ) source selected as input and/or output rather than "stereo
in or out " this is the stock message.

Do you have a stereo interface ?

Tell us what you have selected for "Input and OUTPUT "

For an interface I have a mBox mini. I went into the pull down menu shaking like a school boy on his first date then I just started clicking everything, I did mange to get the simulated red record light to go on but still would not record.
In the mix window pull down tab on the input - interface 1-2 (stereo) output -out 1-2 (stereo) out 1-2. Un-plugging and re-booting the Mbox seems to have worked.

Ok Good, each DAW needs to see where the input is coming from and where the output is going to for each track....or it will not respond it doesn't know whats going on... I am assuming the pull down menu's list the MBOX as an input and/or output. as the selection.

There are a few YouTube video's with regard to this, as well as many other Pro Tools features..

go for it good luck
