Just wanting some input.. anybody here have any experience with one? how would it compare to gibson.? I know they have two models which have a pretty substantial price difference.. Just wanted to know some thoughts on them.. general overview i suppose.. comparisons to other guitars.. etc.. Thanks!

I love vintage Voxes. I played a Tornado last spring. It was light as a feather, and even withthe singl, necl mopunted pickup, it was very bright. Almost jangly.

I also had an Ultrasonic XII for 15 years.

It had awesome, insane onboard effects, but was a real bear to keep in tune.
As much as I love them, I feel they do not compare to a Gibson.

Thanks! I appreciate the reply.. I was more curious about their two newer LP style guitars.. One for for like $500 the other is close to twice that.

No experience with the newer ones, never seen one!
I have a '64 Vox Hurricane however; had it since about 1997, neat guitar! Neck stays in position like a rock

I had the 33 model (single cut) for a week. It was very nice but UPS smashed the box and the gloss coat cracked away by the binding. I returned it to an ebay guitar shop and then took a double cut 33. They were out of stock on single cut 33's so I took the double. I actually dig the double more so I'm happy. They both look great. The single cut is bigger than a Les Paul body. It's a bigger single cut.
The 33 is the one that you can find new in the $475-$550 range.
Here are some pics.....you can check out the neck joint and things....

How would I compare it to Gibson???
-It's much thinner than a Les Paul. The single or double cuts feel like an SG or Strat under your arm. It's a thinner sculpted guitar.
-The pickups sound like P90's or like narrow humbuckers. You won't get a beefy humbucking tone. In P90 (single coil) mode you get a very plucky and ful sound. In Humbucker mode the tone is slightly thicker. The entire pickup is narrow.
-It's dead quiet. Single coil or humbucking.....it's 100% dead quiet. The noise canceling pickups are fantastic.
-The bridge and nut and frets very nice. The intonation on mine was perferct right out of the box. It's a freakishly "exact" guitar when you play it. It competes in regards to intonation to any of my Les Pauls.
-I would put the fit and finish up these with the older PRS SE guitars that were outstanding for $495. Who ever VOX contracted to build these guitars is doing a fine job.
-FWIW.....the embroidered gig bag is very nice. I know that it's just a gig bag but they do give you a very nice bag with the guitar.
I would stick with a 33. I'm not convinced that spending more (55) is going to give you more. It's a neat guitar.

Sorry, I just haven't wrapped my head around the fact that VOX is making guitars again. The 60's models just pop into my head automatically...

I bought what was left of a 64 VOX Meteor at a pawn shop for $60. It had a neck and bridge transplant. Still........$60. I tripled my money on this baby!

I should have kept it. It sounded like a cheese shredder.

I had the single cut version that came out about 3 years ago.
It played beautifully, but I could not bond with the sounds.
It had a bunch of em', just not one that did it for me.
I have the new double cut version with the flame top.
I LOVE the upper fret access, but I changed the pickups to Duncan Antiquity mini HB.
Much better, IMO.
My short review is great guitar, not great sounding pickups.

I like the looks of that double-cut 33 a lot. Very nice.

I looked in my laptop and I still had photos of the single cut that arrived damaged.
(If you want to see photos of the single cut 33).........
