Dug through a pile of Basses at one of the pawn shops I visit (once a week tour of several near my office)and saw a vintage pearl white colored body peeking out. Took some pics of an unusual MIJ Fender and went off to do some research. Bought it for $200, tore it down, cleaned it up, polished the frets, replaced the strings and the battery connector set it up and.......

That's a nice score, I'd expect to pay 2 bills for a good MIM bass but for a MIJ that's real good. The PB Lyte is not a well regarded bass from a collectable POV. The electronics can be finicky and the contacts can corrode out.
However, those knobs, as long as they are complete with the F tops, are rare and collectors will pay upwards of $80 for a pair. I need two for my 83 PJ special but I'm too cheap to drop that kind of dough.
In the end as long as you're happy with it, then it's a nice score.

Nice! I had one in the natural finish and I'm still kicking myself for selling it.

Sadly missing one F top. Other than that, I am not much of a collector, so I think for a few hundred bucks I got something a little different. Electronics are functional. Need to clean up the jack and add a little tension to the prongs for the battery circuit, but other than that it is in good shape.
