ok so i am extremely happy, i build new pedals wit IMPRESSIVE sounds. from General Guitar Gadgets http://www.generalguitargadgets.com now i have beautiful its8 and bsiab2.

in 2009 i order these little bastards, i assemble bsiab2 and have no output, after that i get upset & throw box in cupboard.

last week i get interest again. already i have joyo vintage overdrive, so no need for exact ts808. i decide on exotic, unusual configuration of its8. i stay awake all night putting this together, wit "expensive boutique mods" and i decide on switch options... symmetrical germanium diodes/clean boost/led clipping modes. i decide to install nice ic of LF353P for increased fidelity in pedal.

ok so im SO excited on this, i stay up all night making that little its8 bastard, putting care into it, hoping i can not repeat disaster of bsiab2. 5am quick sleep, then wake up & put amplifier, and play.

WOW FANTASTIC responsive overdrive. immediately i am excited on led clipping & clean boost modes, but HUGE volume drop when i select "germanium diodes". AND germanium is clean nice sound but maybe is too clean. almost like i feel like it have wet/dry control set to 50/50 or something. maybe too clean. nice smooth overdrive but not for my taste. i replace ic wit RC4558P & improves clean boost & led clipping modes... seems to make overall slightly rougher feeling YEAH this is more like overdrive pedal should sound. less hi-fi, more "mojo juice". ok so then i decide to replace germanium diodes wit normal silicon diodes 1N914, i decide asymmetric for those little bastards so i don't overlap wit joyo ts808 clone.

HUGE success. asymmetric clipping is different, not so much like tubescreamer but is GUTSY overdrive. now im happy wit pedal, play for hours. i discover a surprise. CLEAN BOOST mode!!! is almost favorite mode, is MOJO to push tube amp like that. GREAT. beautiful overdrive pedal, versatile, feels of "magic" inside him!!!

ok so now i get excited on bsiab2, i start listening 2 "little guitars" and "when push comes to shove" and "secrets" and "unchained" and i feel big need for getting bsiab2 function.

i examine him wit voltages & discover i make STUPID error of reversing polarity of diode. i have great success in pulling apart & putting the correct polarity of diode. simple diagnosis but i feel huge pride for reversing stupid error & having SUCCESS wit this little bastard.

OH GOD this is beautiful pedal. i find is not versatile, is pedal wit sweet spot. is too bright wit tone knob up from 12 o'clock, but sweet spot is maybe 10:30, wit drive not all the way. funny example of great sound is rolling volume pot on strat down to number 7. OH HELLO EDDIE, i put phaser on & jump too much.

i have experiment wit bias trimming control. is not easy to get good position, subtle changes, but i settle on 4V at Q3 or Q4 (can't remember which is measuring point). is noisy little bastard from 9V wall wart power supply, is clean & quiet from battery. i save to get good quiet isolated regulated coffee-making kitchen sink power supply!

here are some pictures. i know is TERRIBLE letters & case. but i know is good sound so i laugh at a terrible cosmetic, thinks "haha you little secret weapon, nobody will suspect you of a wrongdoing!!!"

thank you for reading report, i am so proud to have success on little bastards, and so excited about music coming out!!!

Congrats! I've been curious about the BSIAB for a while. Reading your post makes me want to build one, ESPECIALLY since Roth is back in Van Halen.

homie you will love him, and STOMP HARD on him.

like i find, he is a pedal to find sweet spot, i don't think "come with me on every picnic"

Nice work. I love it when a project works first time out.
I just finished my its8 as well. I did the expensive boutique mods and a variation of the bass boost mod. Sounds great and makes my special 6 scream that's for sure.
I added a few pics of it.
